We are five games into the NESCAC season, and there is a 3-way tie atop the standings.  One of those teams is Trinity, who remained unbeaten with a 28-9 victory road victory over Tufts.

The story of this game was the Bantams’ defense.  They held the Jumbos to 183 yards of offense.  They had four sacks.  And late in the first half, they made arguably the decisive play of the game: Bryce Ferrell returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.  That score seemed to take all of the air out of the home team right before halftime.

Jaxon Carroll threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns.  He also threw four interceptions, but the Jumbos were only able to score three points off those miscues.  That was just another example of how dominant the Bantams were defensively.

Caden McCallum scored the lone touchdown for Tufts late in the fourth quarter.  He finished with a team-high 61 yards.

Trinity, Amherst and Wesleyan are all 5-0 in the NESCAC.  The Mammoths and the Cardinals play each other next week in a massive game.  The Bantams will host Bowdoin.

Tufts heads west to face Williams.
