How would Bridgewater State respond after blowing a 27-point lead in the fourth quarter last week? The answer: an emphatic victory over previously-unbeaten Framingham State.
The Bears rolled over the Rams on Friday night, 38-7. Bridgewater State scored 24 of its points off four Framingham State turnovers. The Bears also had three, 100-yard rushers in this one.
After falling behind 7-0 less than two minutes into the game, this was all Bears. One of the stars was quarterback Jayden Barber. He rushed for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also threw a TD pass. Oscar Weah and Andrew Cloutman also went over the 100-yard mark. The Bears gained over 400 yards on the ground alone.
Defensively, Gavin Gilyard scored the final Bears’ TD by recovering a fumble and running it into the end zone. They held the Rams to 214 yards of offense, and 76 of that came on one play: Michael Marcucella hitting Ayden Ramirez for a 76-yard TD. Ramirez finished with 101 receiving yards.
Next week, Bridgwater State plays at Dean. Framingham State travels to Westfield State. At the time of this writing, Mass. Maritime is alone in first place in the MASCAC. The Buccaneers play this afternoon.
