Well, there will be no playoffs for my team this year.
While the Buccaneers did beat the Panthers in the season finale, 16-14, they also needed the Saints to upset the Falcons. The latter did not happen. That means the collapse is complete. A season that started out 6-2 ended with 7 losses in the last 9 games, and an 8-9 final record.
Something must change, and it starts by removing the head coach. I am waiting patiently for the Glazers to fire Todd Bowles and perhaps some of his assistants. Bowles has infuriated the entire fan base. All you have to do is read social media to get the pulse of the fans. We are sick of him. He needs to go.
In last night’s win over Carolina, did you notice the boos when the Bucs did not take any shots at the end zone after getting a turnover with under 2 minutes to go and the ball near midfield? Maybe you didn’t, because the BSPN broadcast booth wouldn’t shut up all night. But I heard them loud and clear. When the Panthers had 4th-and-8 in the fourth quarter, trailing by nine, was anyone surprised that Bowles’ defense gave up a 40-yard completion, followed shortly thereafter by a touchdown? It sure looked like Todd was going to do his thing once again. Honestly, I was surprised they didn’t blow it.
Dear Glazers: please do the right thing and get rid of Bowles. We are sick of mediocrity. If you keep him on the staff, the mediocrity will continue. You fired Tony Dungy because he couldn’t get the team over the hump. You need to do the same thing with Bowles.

THANK YOU, GENE
Last night’s game was also the final one for longtime Bucs’ radio broadcaster, Gene Deckerhoff. He is retiring after 37 seasons. I have never known any other Tampa Bay radio announcer other than Gene. He is among the best to ever do it. Yes, he’s a bit of a homer. But he’s our homer. Enjoy your retirement, Gene.
