With two games left in the regular season, Plymouth State still has a shot at the MASCAC title.  The Panthers built a big lead today, then held off a furious comeback by Framingham State to beat the Rams, 28-26.  The game wasn’t decided until a 2-point attempt by the Rams fell incomplete in the end zone.

This game started out all Plymouth State, as the Panthers built a 21-0 lead on touchdowns from Gregory Walker, Shawn Harrington, and Jacob Morris.  But the Rams came storming back with the next three touchdowns, including two TD passes from Michael Marcucella.  But on the 3rd TD, the Rams missed the extra point, so they still trailed by one.

The Panthers went back up by 8 when Braden Lynn faked out just about everyone, ran around the right side and raced to the end zone.  But the Rams had one last chance, and found the end zone on Marcucella’s third TD pass of the game, this time to Matthias Fowler.  But the Rams still needed a 2-point conversion to tie, and Marcucella’s pass sailed incomplete.

Marcucella was 35 of 46 for 349 yards.  Fowler finished with 10 catches for 129 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers rushed for 237 yards, 133 of them coming from Walker.

Plymouth State remains tied with Anna Maria atop the NESCAC.  The AMCATS do hold the tiebreaker because they beat the Panthers head-to-head.
