You know how the saying goes: a win is a win.  Even an ugly win still counts as a “W.”

What the Bucs did against the Saints in New Orleans today was ugly with a capital “U.”  Still, they beat the home team, 23-3, thanks to superb defense, and three field goals of 50+ yards from Chase McLaughlin.

Baker Mayfield and the offense looked bad for the second week in a row, only mustering 212 yards of total offense.  They were stuffed four times by the Saints at the 1-yard line, and nearly had it happen again before Sean Tucker was finally able to get across the goal line.  Thankfully, the defense was stellar against the hapless Saints.  The score could’ve been much higher if an Antoine Winfield TD hadn’t been overturned by a phantom whistle.

It’s obvious that all those injuries – especially on offense – are finally taking a toll.  And yet, they’re 6-2, and have a 2-game lead in the NFC South.  I’ll take it!

Now comes the bye – badly needed.  Hopefully they can get some guys back in two weeks.
