The NCAA has never seen a rushing performance as good as this in its history, regardless of division.
To say Curry College running back Montie Quinn simply “went off” on Saturday would be a major understatement. He broke the NCAA record for most rushing yards in a single game. He gained 522 yards on 20 carries. He is the first player ever to rush for over 500 yards in a game as Curry beat Nichols, 71-27.
Four of Quinn’s touchdowns were over 50 yards. His scoring runs went for 64, 30, 76, 84, 58, 2 and 85 yards. Quinn had 522 of the Colonels’ 733 yards of total offense.
Jonathan Depina and Nathaniel Zachary also scored rushing touchdowns for Curry.
For the Bison, quarterbacks Ian Snow and Ethan LaGuardia combined to throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Snow also had a rushing TD. Aaron Canuel had 103 yards receiving and a touchdown. Nichols had 436 yards of offense.
I’ll help you with the math: these two teams combined for 1,169 yards of offense. Wow.
Curry remains in first place in the CNE. The Colonels will either be tied with Endicott or alone atop the standings, depending on what the Gulls do later today.
