The NFL standings are so nice to look at right now.
Not only are the Bucs in first place in the NFC South, they’re leading the entire conference. And they’re one of only two teams in the entire league with a 5-1 record. The surprising Colts are the other.
Last Sunday was another game the Buccaneers found a way to win. They beat the 49ers, 30-19. Both teams were riddled with injuries. The Bucs were without their top two receivers (and lost Emeka Egbuka in the first half) and didn’t have Bucky Irving. But it didn’t matter, because Baker Mayfield is playing out of his mind. That 3rd down scramble in the third quarter to pick up a key first down was a microcosm of the season so far. Two plays later, Tez Johnson made a fantastic catch for a touchdown, and executed a perfect backflip. The ‘Niners never recovered.
On to Detroit for another big game on Monday Night Football. I am going on vacation next week, so no more content from me on the Bucs for a little while. Hopefully this magical ride can keep going.
