There seems to be no end in sight to these heart attack games the Bucs are giving us.  But as long as they keep winning them, who am I to complain?

Tampa Bay did it again on Sunday, beating a good Seahawks team on the road, 38-35.  Chase McLaughlin kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired.  That’s the second time in three weeks he’s done that.

This felt like a playoff game, with Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold going toe-to-toe for the entire game.  And once again, with the game on the line in the 4th quarter, Mayfield led the Buccaneers on a clutch drive that ended with a TD pass to Sterling Shepherd with just over a minute remaining.

Then the defense, which had given up four straight TD drives – including a 99-yarder that Seattle made it look easy – made the key play.  A Darnold pass went off Logan Hall’s helmet and into the hands for Lavonte David for the interception.  That set up the Bucs for the game-winning score.

Mayfield threw for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Darnold threw for 341 and 4 TDs.  Two quarterbacks who were written off a few years ago, put on a show in the pacific northwest.

The Bucs have a Super Bowl-caliber offense.  Their defense is not.  Neither are their special teams, aside from McLaughlin.  They didn’t have any kicks blocked, but Seattle was returning kickoffs out near midfield for the entire game.  And when the Bucs did down a punt at the 1, the Seahawks went on the aforementioned 99-yard drive.

But hey – 4-1 sounds good.  Another big one next week at home against the 49ers.
