By now, you know the deal. The Buccaneers are in first place in the NFC South, having beaten the Raiders, 28-13. That, combined with the Falcons’ continued free-fall, puts the Bucs on top of the division.
I am late with my thoughts because I traveled down to Tampa for this game. The Bucs looked great in the first quarter and great in the fourth quarter. In the middle of the game, it felt like the Bucs were doing everything in their power to hand the game to the Raiders. But the Raiders are so bad, they said, ‘nope – we don’t want it.’
Rachaad White had a great game. He had to, because Bucky Irving got hurt early on and was forced to sit out most of the game. Baker Mayfield threw three touchdown passes, but also two interceptions, and he lost a fumble. One of his INTs was in the end zone. It was one of those ‘what the heck was he thinking?” kind of throws.
But a win is a win. And now, the Buccaneers head out west to play the Chargers, the last team on the schedule with a winning record. The Bucs need to play much better than they did with me in attendance to get the W at SoFi Stadium.
