Each week, I attend a local college football game here in Massachusetts, and at times, New England. This weekend, I took in the MIT/Bridgewater State contest. The Engineers beat the Bears on Saturday night, 37-17.
Most of MIT’s scoring came courtesy of Carson Phelps. He had three touchdowns – two rushing, one receiving. The other big story for the Engineers was their defense, holding the Bears to 187 yards of total offense. MIT also took advantage of a couple of Bridgewater State miscues, including a kickoff that rolled dead down by the goal line without anyone touching it.
Bridgewater State started off strong offensively, but struggled to move the ball as the game went on. Defensively, Wyatt Alford had 12 tackles for the Bears.
Next week, Bridgewater State travels to Westfield State. MIT is off.
